Infection prevention and control
The trust is one of the first trusts to introduce deep cleaning of wards and "bare below the elbows" policies for staff.
Earlier this year our intensive care team recorded an important milestone as the unit went for more than a year with no MRSA blood stream infections. In addition across the whole trust there was a period of 4 consecutive months without a MRSA blood stream infection. We are aiming to achieve this again and improve our results.
The latest (August 2009) data shows that the trust continues to reduce infection with far lower rates than government targets for the trust.
