Sky-high backing for hospital Over £2,000 has been raised by a young mother of two who performed a 13,500ft tandem parachute jump in aid of the chemotherapy department at the Royal Free. Debbie Nathan, 31yrs age, a mother and cancer fundraiser, has a friend receiving cancer treatment at the hospital. “It’s brilliant to have done this, to benefit our friend and so many others undergoing cancer treatment,” said Debbie, who admitted to being scared of heights and fast fairground rides! “But, after doing it twice, I couldn’t do that jump again!” Kate de Lord, lead nurse, chemotherapy, said: “We are going to use Debbie’s hard-won sponsorship funds to purchase a Dynamap (electronic blood pressure machine) for chemotherapy patients and pictures to decorate the oncology clinic areas. The items are aimed at improving patient comfort and care, and which would not normally be NHS funded. We are very grateful to her indeed”. Ms Nathan is available on 020 8950 3438 or contact the press office on 7830 2963.
