Overground station improvements

posted 13/12/2011   expires 13/03/2012

The Department for Transport announced on Wednesday 7 December that Hampstead Heath overground station will benefit from major access improvement works, including the installation of two lifts.

The improvements are being funded as part of the department’s Access for All scheme which aims to improve access to railway stations.

Dominic Dodd, chairman of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, said: “We are delighted to hear that major works, including two lifts, will take place at Hampstead Heath station. This will be of major benefit to our patients, especially wheelchair users, older people and people with puschairs.

“We have been campaigning for a more accessible station for the last 12 months to help our patients and the wider public to have a more positive travel experience.”
