Freedom of Information Act enquiries

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act was passed by Parliament on 30 November 2000. It gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities. The act applies to all public bodies, such as schools, government agencies and, of course, the NHS. The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust is fully compliant with the act.

FOI replaces the Open Government Code of Practice, which has been in operation since 1994. The full text of the act can be accessed at: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2000/20000036.htm.
