Staff benefits

Catering

Our large restaurant at the Royal Free site offers an extensive choice of dishes as well as theme days throughout the year. We also have a coffee lounge for staff, as well as one for patients, and vending machines throughout the building. The catering department caters for all types of functions. Sports facilities

You can relax and unwind in our staff recreation club, open to all staff for a small membership fee. Facilities include a heated swimming pool, fully equipped sports hall (for team games or badminton) a gym and two fitness studios, as well as a bar where you can buy food and drinks. A wide range of classes are available including aerobics, yoga, ninjutsu, and fencing. Staff also have access to on-site squash courts and massage. Membership of a number of local fitness and leisure clubs is available to staff at a discounted rate.


Occupational health

we are committed to the well-being of all our staff. We have a staff counsellor (nursing) and an on-site occupational health service provided by the health and work centre.


Season ticket loans

our season ticket loan scheme is available to trust staff (provided they meet the eligibility criteria).


Discounts for staff and theatre/TV show tickets

Discounts schemes are available to staff, with discounts from national retailers as well as discounts from local businesses. Discounted or free theatre/TV show tickets are sometimes available to staff.


Pension scheme

Trust staff can join the NHS pension scheme which provides, among other benefits, a pension, a tax free lump sum and life assurance. The net cost of all these benefits for most members is about 3.5% of their pay. Expert advice is available to staff from our pensions officer.


Accommodation

The trust has some accommodation both on and off the main site (subject to allocation policy and nomintation), and can assist staff in finding private rented accommodation. More details »


Childcare

A staff day nursery on the Hampstead site with places for approximately 45 children. Childcare vouchers can be provided by the trust to help contribute towards the cost of childcare


Chaplaincy-spiritual care service

The team consists of Christian, Jewish and Muslim chaplains, and volunteer visitors. The trust has a Muslim prayer room and a chapel (where Christian services and major Jewish festivals are celebrated). Banking

one of the major high street banks has a cash machine located in the Royal Free hospital for use by all trust staff.


The Sir William Wells Atrium

Our state-of-the-art atrium, opened in 1996, can be used for lectures, conferences, meetings, exhibitions and fundraising events.


Artwork from local and national artists

Artwork is displayed on the ground floor of the Royal Free Hospital and is available for purchase.


Travel health centre

The travel health centre opened in 1999, and offers travel health advice and immunisations. More details »
