Calming and alerting activities

Children’s level of alertness (how they attend to their environment) varies throughout the day. It is appropriate for all of us to have times in the day when we are not as alert as others, or when we are too excited to concentrate or when we are working really well.

It is important to understand our different levels of alertness and how they impact on our ability to concentrate, listen to instructions and focus to complete our work.

Coping in the classroom environment

These strategies are to help children who have difficulty coping in the classroom environment.
